FAQ
Quick answers to the things most people ask first. If something's missing, add a question in the dashboard once you've signed up.
Is this free? Do I bet real money?
Completely free. No money, no betting, no card details. predict.lt is a friends-only game for bragging rights — nothing more.
How do points work in the group stage?
Exact score = 5 points. Correct outcome (right winner, wrong score) = 2 points, plus +1 if you got the goal difference right (e.g. 2–1 vs actual 3–2). Picking the team that scores first (HOME / AWAY / NONE) = +2 points. A boost doubles your total for that match — in the group stage you can score up to 14 points. Misses are 0.
And how about the knockout stage?
From the round of 32 onward, all group-stage rules still apply PLUS: +5 points if you correctly pick the team that ultimately advances after extra time / penalties. If your scoreline was a draw (e.g. 1–1), the prediction form will ask you separately: "if it goes to ET/pens, who wins?". The maximum for a single boosted knockout match is 24 points.
What are boosts?
You get 2 boosts per ISO week (computed against your chosen timezone). Apply one before a match to double your points for that pick. Once a match kicks off, its boost is locked. The week is decided by the match's kickoff date — so two matches on Monday and Tuesday count to the same week, but a match the following Monday starts a fresh allowance.
What's the Champion pick?
Before the tournament starts, you pick ONE team out of all 48 that you think will lift the trophy. Get it right and you earn +25 bonus points on top of your match scores. Picks lock the moment the first match kicks off — you can change your mind any time before that.
Do I need to join a group to play?
No. You can play solo and appear on the global leaderboard. Groups let you compete with a defined set of friends — your picks stay the same across all groups.
Can I be in more than one group?
Yes, as many as you want. You only ever submit one pick per match, but it counts toward every group you're in. Each group has its own ranking.
How are scores and goals tracked?
Live data comes from an official sports data feed. Scores and first-scorer events are pulled frequently during matches and less often between them — if you ever spot a wrong result, let us know and we'll re-score.
When can I make a pick?
Any time up to roughly 30 seconds before the official kickoff time. This short safety buffer makes sure that a last-second submission isn't recorded after a match has already started. Once the cutoff hits, picks are locked. Same for boosts and the champion pick.
Can I see my friends' picks?
Only after a match has kicked off. Before that, everyone's picks are private — no copying allowed.
What if I miss a match?
No points for that match, but no penalty. You can rejoin the next one. Boosts you didn't apply don't get used up.
Who sees my email or name?
Only your own data is visible to you. Other users only see your display name in leaderboards you both belong to (global tournament leaderboard or shared groups). Your email is never displayed.
Can I delete my account?
Yes — open Profile → Account settings → Delete account, confirm with your password (Google / Apple sign-in accounts don't need password confirmation), and everything in the primary database is erased immediately: account, predictions, champion pick, group memberships (GDPR Art. 17). Groups you owned are automatically transferred to the longest-tenured member (with no extra confirmation from you); if you were the only one, the group is deleted. Backups still hold your data for up to 14 days before being overwritten.
Can I change my display name or password?
Profile → Account settings has both. Display names can be changed once every 30 days — this keeps leaderboards stable and stops someone from taking over a name immediately after the previous account was deleted. Password changes have no cooldown, IF your account has a password. If you sign in exclusively through Google or Apple, manage your password in your Google or Apple account settings — no predict.lt password needs to be set. Email is fixed for now — contact
[email protected] if you need it changed.
Can I download all my data?
Yes — Profile → Account settings → Download my data. You'll get a JSON file with everything we hold about you (GDPR Art. 20 — right to portability): account fields, every prediction, your champion pick, group memberships and boost usage.
Where can I see your privacy policy and terms?
They're at /privacy and /terms. Short version: we only store what's needed to play (email, display name, your picks, Google/Apple sign-in IDs if you use them, your timezone, push tokens). No marketing analytics, no ads, no third-party tracking pixels. We do use Sentry (EU region) for error monitoring — passwords and emails are flagged as sensitive. Full details in the privacy policy.
Is this an official FIFA / UEFA product?
No. predict.lt is independent and is not affiliated with FIFA, UEFA, or any tournament organiser. Tournament names and team data are used descriptively under fair use; all trademarks belong to their owners.
